Spielburg Finally Releases Trailer for New UFO Film

By Faun Grey

The highly anticipated first trailer for the acclaimed filmmaker's latest project, "Disclosure Day," which had been shrouded in secrecy until now, has debuted with enigmatic footage.

Released on Tuesday, Dec. 16, the teaser maintains a sense of mystery about the plot while suggesting a narrative centered on humanity's discovery of extraterrestrial life.

The trailer begins with an ominous query: "If you learned we weren't alone, if someone revealed the truth, would you be afraid?" The scene then cuts to a woman delivering a weather forecast on TV in Kansas City before she unexpectedly begins to stutter and emit peculiar, otherworldly clicking noises. Emily Blunt

The preview also portrays a character who asserts that "humanity deserves to know the truth" and announces plans for "complete disclosure, to every person on Earth, simultaneously." Later footage shows him standing within what appears to be a mysterious crop circle formation. Josh O'Connor

The studio has kept plot details under wraps, describing "Disclosure Day" simply as a "new original event film" and categorizing it as a "thriller."

The trailer and title unveiling offered eagerly awaited glimpses into Spielberg's latest creative endeavor after months of speculation surrounding the project. Prior to this revelation, the only information available suggested that Spielberg was making a return to the science fiction genre with a narrative potentially involving UFOs.

The intrigue intensified when billboards began appearing, featuring a striking close-up of an eye accompanied by the enigmatic message, "All will be disclosed." These billboards were notably minimalist, displaying only Spielberg's name and the release date without revealing the title. mysterious billboards

"Disclosure Day" appears to mark Spielberg's triumphant return to crowd-pleasing summer blockbusters, a genre he helped pioneer with "Jaws" in 1975 and later perfected through classics like "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial." In recent years, the director has primarily focused on mature dramas released during awards season, such as "Bridge of Spies" and "The Post." However, he did venture back into sci-fi with his 2018 blockbuster "Ready Player One."

The film also represents Spielberg's return to familiar territory: extraterrestrial life, a theme he previously explored in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," "War of the Worlds" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

Spielberg's most recent work, "The Fabelmans," tells the story of an aspiring filmmaker who uncovers a life-altering family secret. This semi-autobiographical film, drawing heavily from Spielberg's own experiences, garnered seven Academy Award nominations, including one for best picture.

"Disclosure Day" is scheduled to premiere during the peak of summer movie season on June 12, 2026.
