Paranormal State Laws, Know Before You Go

There are dozens of crazy laws still on the books in all fifty states, but what about those that specifically deal with paranormal subjects? Well, we did some digging and as it turns out - there are plenty!
If you’re packing for a tropical paradise vacation, you’d better keep your coins to yourself. That’s right, your coins. While the islands are magical themselves, the coin behind the ear magic trick is against the law.
If you’re heading east to Maryland, keep your ESP abilities to yourself. Fortune telling is illegal, including the use of Tarot Cards or doing Palm Readings to tell someone’s future. You could be fined $500 and even go to jail.
You won’t have to go far before needing to know our next interesting law, if you’re a hunter, that is. New Hampshire goes a bit beyond common hunting regulations, but specifying one place you can never hunt- graveyards. Makes you wonder what kind of incident took place to enact that one.
Speaking of graveyards, haunted homes must be disclosed before a buyer purchases a home in New Jersey. In New York, there is a section in seller’s disclosure forms where hauntings must be listed. Some states, not all, require known deaths in a home to be disclosed. Two states, Massachusetts and Minnesota, actually have a section in their disclosure forms stating paranormal activity does not need to be shared (See How to Research a Haunted House by Margie Kay and Violet Wisdom)

Love Halloween? Be prepared before heading to Virginia. If you’re over 14 years old you’ll need to find a party. Trick-or-Treating is only lawful for those younger than 14. In New York, it is questionable if Trick-or-Treating is allowed at all, as there is a law that prohibits any form of public disguise.
Maybe you’re finally making that trip to go on a Bigfoot hunt in the state of Washington. If you do find one, rest assured, it is safe. Bigfoot is officially listed as a protected endangered species. So, obviously, the law states you can’t harass, trap or kill a Bigfoot. We think that law should be in effect in all states. The rest are kind of crazy.
