A Mothman was observed in Raymore, Missouri, southeast of Kansas City, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.  At 7:45 pm, UFO and paranormal investigator Margie Kay left a MUFON meeting at Johnny’s Tavern and loaded up her SUV. She then looked to the North and was shocked to see a flying humanoid.

Margie said that the entity was a humanoid shape in a grey/black color and had huge feather-like wings, which were stretched out but not moving. The creature slowly moved upward from approximately 15 degrees off the horizon to 45 degrees, then dissipated and disappeared. Margie thought that the creature’s wings were approximately 25 feet or more in width and that the distance was approximately 300-500 feet from her position. She could not see the eyes, likely due to the distance.

It was dusk, and there was little light in the sky at that time.

Kay said, “The weird thing was that it never flapped its wings. It just moved up.”

Unfortunately, there were no other people in the parking lot at that moment. Three people appeared right after the event, but no one else saw the flying creature.

Kay had had a few previous experiences with a Mothman but had never seen one with the naked eye before this event. In two other instances, she saw a shadow of a Mothman, and in one case, a Mothman appeared during an interview with a witness, which she and the witness saw using remote viewing. It was not visible to another investigator who was in the room at the same time.

The Kansas City area is known for UFO, alien, and Mothman sightings, and the Belton/Raymore area is a hotspot for strange occurrences.  Investigators are attempting to find out why the area is known for odd sightings.
