A retired two-star Air Force general, William McCasland, has reportedly disappeared in Albuquerque, New Mexico, drawing renewed attention because of his previous connections to Air Force programs linked to unidentified aerial phenomena research.
McCasland was last seen on February 27, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance are generating heightened public interest after President Donald Trump recently ordered the release of additional government files concerning UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena. At this time, however, authorities have stated there is no confirmed evidence connecting the two events. What has made the case especially notable is that two recent developments have intensified public speculation and renewed UFO-related discussion surrounding the Silver Alert involving the missing U.S. general.
Former Secretary of State and former First Lady Hillary Clinton recently appeared for a deposition as part of the House GOP’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a proceeding tied to the House Oversight Committee inquiry.
While the deposition itself was not focused on unidentified aerial phenomena, the subject briefly surfaced during questioning when Clinton was asked about past efforts to declassify UFO-related files.
One question referenced Laurance Rockefeller’s efforts during the Clinton administration to encourage greater disclosure on UFO matters, along with former campaign chairman John Podesta’s public statements that UFO-related files could have been released had Clinton won the presidency.
When asked whether she was pleased that such files may now finally be made public, Clinton responded:
“I am pleased. As I say, I think so.”
That exchange brought renewed attention to John Podesta, who served as Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign chairman. Before that, he was White House Chief of Staff under President Bill Clinton and later a senior adviser to President Barack Obama.
In 2016, WikiLeaks published a large collection of emails from Podesta’s account, including messages from Tom DeLonge of the band Blink-182, who has long expressed deep interest in UFO research and government disclosure efforts.
In those emails, DeLonge claimed he had been working with individuals connected to the military on UFO-related initiatives. One of the individuals he identified was General William McCasland, stating that McCasland had advised him and connected him with potential advisers related to his research.
Timeline of Events
February 14: Progressive podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen asked former President Barack Obama directly whether aliens exist. Obama responded, Yes, while clarifying that no evidence points to aliens being held at Area 51.
February 19: President Trump announced plans to release additional government UFO files.
February 26: Hillary Clinton was asked about UFO disclosure during her deposition and referenced Podesta’s long-standing interest in the subject.
February 27: General William McCasland was reported missing in Albuquerque.
This sequence is one reason the UFO/UAP angle has attracted so much public attention.
According to his official U.S. Air Force biography, William McCasland graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in astronautical engineering. Over the next 34 years, he held a range of roles involving space research, acquisitions, and operations, including assignments with the National Reconnaissance Office and the Pentagon.
The National Reconnaissance Office is one of the most secretive intelligence agencies in the United States, responsible for designing, launching, and operating America’s spy satellites. Much of its work remains classified.
A key chapter in McCasland’s career came in 2011, when Air Force records show he assumed command of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, a position he held until retiring in October 2013. Wright Patterson Air Force Base was the headquarters of Project Blue Book, the U.S. Air Force Investigation into UFOs. A deep dive will uncover a monsoon of information about Wright Patterson being in possession of crashed UFO matirials and rumors of back engineering.
As of March 3, the FBI had joined the search for the missing retired general. According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, William Neil McCasland, 68, was last seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico, around 11:00 a.m. local time. A Silver Alert was issued shortly afterward.
